From June 4 to June 10, the 9th annual Hemp History Week, a nationwide campaign to bring new understanding to the amazing history and uses of hemp, is taking place.

Activists throughout the country are organizing over 250 grassroots events, so make sure to check if there is anything happening near you.  There are also product samplings and specials at Whole Foods, other grocery stores, and partner retailers in all 50 states.

Hemp History Week is a great reason to talk about hemp  — and there is great news to talk about. Last week, Missouri became the 40th state to sign hemp into law, and American farmers are on track to grow over 50,000 acres of hemp this season. Sales for hemp products, including CBD, are stronger and more widely available than ever before. Meanwhile, the compelling history and benefits of hemp remain as positive as always.

Last year, Senators Wyden, McConnell, Paul and Merkley, filed a resolution designating the week as Hemp History Week, recognizing the historical relevance of industrial hemp and recognizing the growing economic potential of industrial hemp. A similar resolution is expected to be filed later this week, alongside a Hemp Lobby Day in Washington, D.C.

This week is a great time to call your senators and urge them to support the Hemp Farming Act of 2018. The bill is already supported by a full quarter of the Senate, and hemp lobbyists are hoping to continue to grow that number until it becomes law of the land.

Plus, this week you can share your thoughts, stories and facts about hemp on social media for a chance to win hemp prizes!

In order to best celebrate Hemp History Week, we suggest taking part on all fronts: Engage online, in person, call your senators and take action! There is no time like now, and Hemp History Week campaign materials make it easy and relevant.

Happy #HempWeek!
